A Seminar on “PEM Type Fuel Cells Basic Features Applications” was held in our faculty

A seminar titled “Renewable Energy Days AYTEK-1: PEM Type Fuel Cells Basic Features Applications” was held in our faculty. Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Suat Kıyak, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Belma Aslım, academicians and students attended the seminar, Faculty Member of our University's Chemistry Department Assoc Prof. Aylin Aytaç gave information about PEM type fuel cells.

Moderated by Res. Assist. Eda Çınar Avar's seminar, it started with the opening speech of Prof. Dr. Belma Aslım. Prof. Dr. Belma Aslım said, “The depletion of the ozone layer as a result of the destruction caused by fossil fuels in the environment, the end of the carbon age and the beginning of the hydrogen age, with the beginning of the process of life's way out due to global warming. An example of new energy sources based on hydrogen obtained from renewable sources and their application to different technologies is fuel cells or batteries that produce energy directly as a result of hydrogen or the electrochemical reaction of hydrogen with oxygen. For this reason, fuel cells or fuel cells are extremely important fields of study today. Fuel cells also have the potential to be used in many sectors, as they do not cause environmental and noise pollution and are much easier to recycle than fossil fuels.

After that, Prof. Dr. Belma Aslım, Assoc Prof. Aylin Aytaç's speech started. Assoc Prof. Aylin Aytaç thanked Dean of the Faculty of Science Prof. Dr. Suat Kıyak, Vice Dean Prof. Dr. Belma Aslım and the faculty members who contributed to the organization of the event. Touching on the importance of renewable energy and hydrogen energy in his speech, Assoc Prof. Aylin Aytaç said, “We need to understand the reality of hydrogen. Hydrogen is perceived as a utopia,” he said, and talked about the lack of importance given to hydrogen energy.

Mentioning that hydrogen can be called an energy carrier, Assoc Prof. Aytaç continued his speech as follows: “You can hear from media sources that it has an increasing importance as an energy carrier due to its positive properties. The necessity of producing both electricity and hydrogen from renewable energy sources in order to confirm sustainable progress and solve economic and environmental problems is now an issue that is emphasized and emphasized in the world.
